We use safe and effective techniques on our patented wheel straightening system. Our safety inspection process requires the technician to measure run-out and check for hidden cracks using a dye penetrate and black light.
If our inspection determines that a bent wheel is safe to straighten, Cleveland Rim Repair will straighten using our pressure relaxation wheel straightening system. Front side and backside bends may not qualify for repair based on location and severity of damage.
Wheel Straightening
Our ColumbusCleveland Rim Repair technicians can straighten virtually any bent car or truck rim. Whether it’s a 15″ OEM or 24″ custom rim – no job is too small or too large. This includes steel, aluminum and chrome rims.
We have experience using many straightening devices to get the job done right. Each rim is first inspected with a highly sensitive measuring instrument to determine the exact location and severity of the bend. The damaged area is then brought back to original manufacturers’ specifications by using very specialized wheel straightening machinery.
Curbs, road debris, and other hazards cause scratches and scrapes to the wheel face and lip. It's a common sight on wheels of all types. It is unattractive and if not repaired quickly, can lead to corrosion and wheel degradation.
Cleveland Wheel Repair Specialists provides complete, off-the-car wheel refinishing to alloy wheels that are scratched, scraped or have peeling paint. Wheels are removed from the vehicle, cleaned, repaired, primed, painted and clear coated utilizing patented paint adhesion technology. OEM approved paint is color matched to every wheel before repair. All repairs come with a lifetime warranty against paint peeling.
With our reconditioning tools, proprietary paints and clear coat process, we can remove curb rash, scrapes, gouges and discoloration caused by age. It’s a specialized process that ensures a match with the undamaged wheels.
There are many variations of standard silver wheel finishes depending on the concentration of metallic within the paint. More metallic generally gives off a brighter finish, while less metallic yields a flatter finish. There is also a class of finishes known as hyper silver.
Your professional Cleveland Rim Repair Specialist is highly skilled in matching all these finishes. Polished aluminum wheels can also be brought back to like-new condition.
Welding
It’s not uncommon for a pothole or curb to cause a small crack in a wheel. Metal fatigue can also play a part. Kwicksilver technicians are trained to handle this type of repair and use only top quality TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welders. Some cracks are unsafe to weld, such as those located on the spoke of a rim. In this case, your Cleveland Rim Repair technician will find a replacement OEM rim at a fraction of the cost of a new rim.
Powder Coating
Cleveland Rim Repair also offers powder coating at select locations. The powder material is applied with an electrostatic gun. The gun creates a positive electric charge on the powder, which is then sprayed towards the grounded object (wheel) by compressed air and then accelerated toward the object by a powerful electrostatic charge.
The powder comes in a wide range of colors and finishes and is extremely durable and long-lasting. This service may require us to ship the rim to our nearest available outlet that is set up to perform this type of service.
CNC Wheel Machining
We also have the newest technology CNC wheel lathe. The device cuts a fine layer of aluminum from the entire face of the rim with exacting precision, producing a new finish that is equal to or better than original factory finishes.
The machine is specifically designed for those wheels with machined finishes. A machined faced wheel has a bright finish much like polished aluminum. However, upon closer inspection, machined rims have tiny machine lines cut into the aluminum.
